Mr. Marcum, another math teacher along with one of our elective teachers, has been coaching and mentoring students for 5 years. He has worked around the Tempe School District before arriving here, at Desert Hills High School. He formerly had only been coaching sport teams, but as time went on he realized he enjoyed helping kids, he started to create a sort of fondness for teaching. One of his best teaching moments would be when his wrestling team won the State Wrestling Championship, and they were just so happy and extremely proud. Mr. Marcum has many hobbies he likes to do including, playing rugby, taking trips, building many things, and dirt biking.
Mr. Grajeda, the business teacher, has been educating others for 10 years at Mission Heights High School and Apache Trails High School. He became a teacher because he wanted to experience something different other than just business all the time, and he wanted to help students learn and fulfil their passion. He really does enjoy watching the students as they grow and realize their potential. His best teaching experience would be seeing his students graduate or the progress they have made through the last 4 years. Some of Mr. Grajeda’s hobbies he loves to do in his free time is deep sea fishing, travelling, and dabbling in stock market.
Mrs. Trump, the World History teacher, has been schooling others for 17 years all around California and various Leona Group schools. She became a teacher by doing volunteer work as a student assistant and thought it could be a career she’d like to continue in. She does enjoy her job and most of all, enjoys seeing and getting to know her students every day. Her best moment as a teacher would probably be when kids get the AHA! moment, when they finally understand something that they’ve been trying to figure out forever. Some hobbies that Mrs. Trump enjoys to do is hiking, biking, travelling, reading, and spending time with her family. Ms. Gorman, another Math teacher, has been teaching others for 3 years, at VHM and then at DHHS. She enjoys being a teacher and working with students, along with adults. She loves teaching them different things and watching as they understand it. Her best teaching experience would have to be everything because everyday is amazing but also a bit of a challenge for her and of course, for the students she is working with. Ms. Gorman enjoys going home after a long day at work and sitting down with her kids.
Mr. Boyle, the Assistant School Leader and English teacher, has been working and teaching students for 7 years and has only taught at Desert Hills High School. He became a teacher because he had an English degree and his counselor suggested teaching, so he took a class and absolutely fell in love with the idea of teaching and went on to get his masters. His most memorable experience as a teacher was to see the kids he has had since their freshman year and his first year of teaching graduate, he was proud of them but also sad to see them go. Some hobbies he enjoys in his free time is reading, board games, movies, and fantasy football.
