Attendance
Student Attendance Policy
All absences are to be called in to the school office by a parent or guardian each day by 9 a.m. If we have not heard from a parent, the school will call home or work to verify the absence. In cases where the parent/guardian was not reachable, the student must bring a written excuse from a parent/guardian to the office and obtain a readmission slip upon returning to school.
In order to receive credit for a course, a student must attend class each day and complete all work required at a level that is acceptable by the teacher. All absences, whether excused or unexcused, must be flexed (all time made up).
Student absences will be monitored by the teachers and administration for accountability. If a student misses 10 consecutive days of school, he/she will be automatically withdrawn from school and must reenroll. If an absence occurs, the parent/guardian must contact the school daily and explain the reason for missing classes.
Tardiness
Any student arriving to class after 8 a.m. is considered late. Tardiness will only be excused if a phone call is made prior to arrival and/or a signed note is brought in with a legitimate reason. Students arriving to school after 8:30 a.m. may not be allowed to go to class unless the tardy is excused. When a student is tardy 3 times, he/she will be required to do one session of flextime. Excessive tardiness may lead to further discipline action as deemed appropriate by administration.
Flex Time
Flex time may be completed Monday through Thursday 4th period and Friday 1st through 4th periods. A student is required to complete all flex time within the same week of the absence in order to remain up to date with class work. If a student is absent on any day of the week, he/she is required to flex the time prior to that week ending. If a student does not flex the time within the same week of the absence, the student is still responsible for flexing the time immediately upon returning to school. An absence that is not made up is considered a permanent absence.
