Desert Hills High School offers its students a wide variety of exciting opportunities and challenging classes with a college preparatory focus. Enrichment courses provide for advanced development and specialization, enhancing a quality core academic curriculum aligned with Arizona state standards.

Graduation requirements

Desert Hills High School requires a minimum of 20 credits to receive a high school diploma. The following list of requirements is set forth by the Arizona State Board of Education for entrance into Arizona universities. Please note that these guidelines are the minimum requirements.

  • English: 4 credits
  • Math: 2 credits minimum; 4 for state universities
  • Science: 2 credits minimum; 3 for state universities
  • Social studies: 3 credits
  • Fine arts/practical arts: 1 credit (2 classes)
  • Foreign language: elective; 2 credits for state universities
  • Electives: 8 credits
  • Students may elect to take more than 20 credits and may choose to participate in dual enrollment and concurrent enrollment classes for high school and college credit. These courses may be weighted for the purpose of class rank.

Since entrance requirements vary greatly from college to college, students who are college-bound should carefully consider high school course selections and investigate college entrance requirements with our academic services director.

Students graduating with a minimum 3.4 grade point average are considered to be graduating with honors. Students with a minimum 3.7 grade point average are considered to be graduating with highest honors.
