Summer sports programs at Desert Hills High School are getting underway! Our Summer Basketball League is now forming, and will run from May 29 to June 21. Interested students should see Ms. Quinn or Coach Schmitt for more information. Conditioning for Fall Football is also underway, with students practicing every afternoon through the end of the school year. Summer School registration is going on now! Summer School begins Monday,
June 4, and runs through Friday, June 29. Students may take one or two classes,
with a morning session scheduled from 8:10 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. The afternoon
session is from 11:50 a.m. to 3:03 p.m. Classes are held Monday through Friday
and cost $95 per class. Sign up now and get ahead this summer!
Students who bring in a new student can earn Harkin’s movie passes, and new
students who sign up for Desert Hills in the fall and remain through the end of
Block 1 will be reimbursed for Summer School tuition. It’s a great deal for

Tickets to the Desert Hills 2012 Prom, to be held at the beautiful Villa Siena resort in Gilbert, are on sale now. Tickets are $40 per single and $60 per couple, and are available from a Student Council member. The Prom will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Villa Siena, located at 890 W. Elliot Road in Gilbert. Come join us for all the festivities!
 
 
Desert Hills High School is taking determined measures
to help students successfully complete the Arizona Instrument to Measure
Standards (AIMS) examinations this spring, and we would like to remind students
and parents that the AIMS tests are fast approaching.

The AIMS Math and Stanford 10 tests will be administered on Tuesday, April 10, at Desert Hills.
AIMS Science is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11. It is mandatory that all 10th
graders and other students required to test attend school on these exam
days.

We at Desert Hills are committed to helping our students successfully
complete these important examinations, and are eager to work with parents in

The Desert Hills calendar is bursting with spring
activity, including charity events, sports celebrations and our much-anticipated
Prom extravaganza at the beautiful Villa Siena resort in Gilbert. Prom will be
held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Villa Siena, 890 W. Elliot
Road, in Gilbert. Tickets are $40 (single) and $60 (couple). See a Student
Council member for more information.

Desert Hills will host a blood drive with United Blood Services from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, on
campus. Our annual Sports Banquet will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Val
Vista Lakes Clubhouse in Gilbert, and on Friday, May 18, students can enjoy our
Senior Day celebration at Sunsplash water park in Mesa. The Sunsplash event will
run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with tickets at $20 per participant.

Desert Hills is pleased to congratulate its first class inducted into the National Business Honor Society. The Desert Hills charter for NBHS is the first awarded by the prestigious organization to a school in Arizona, and recognizes top
student scholars.

To become a member of NBHS, students must maintain high grades
in business and other courses, and act as leaders and role models on campus.

Desert Hills’ "Extravaganza," an annual college and career night bringing together students and university representatives from across the state, is coming to campus on Thursday, March 8. Scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Extravaganza gives students the opportunity to meet with college and university representatives, military officials and advisors from a variety of vocational institutions.

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the Academic Services meeting at 5 p.m., featuring presentations on successfully transitioning into high school and planning for a post-secondary college career.

Today is the final day to sign up for the Desert Hills Dodge Ball Tournament, to be held from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Gilbert Boys' and Girls' Club, on Gilbert and Elliot roads in Gilbert. Teams must have at least five players, with a maximum of 10 participants. Come out and show your dodge ball skills! The entrance fee is $2 for players and $1 for general admission.
